Meet my faithful running partner, Dixie Dog....
We went running this morning at the Rillito wash. She had a small wound on one of her paws but she really wanted to go. We did about 5.5 miles.
10 seconds after I took this picture of Dixie, we saw a coyote. At first I thought it was a dog, and then I realized it wasn't, so we took off the other way until the coyote moved on, and then we backtracked down this trail.

This is the little houndog that always barks at Dixie Dog when we run the Rillito. He (she?) stopped barking long enough to pose for me. Very cute dog.

All done with my run. I love running, especially with Dixie. She is a good dog. Running makes me feel like a strong woman. I feel like I can treat the universe right when I have had a good run.
Thought for today - "Karma can be endlessly patient. Eventually the universe will insist on redressing the balance of wrong with right."

Happy Memorial Day! Today I give thanks to all of the people who have served our country.

This morning I went on a 10 mile trail run in Saguaro National Monument East in Tucson, AZ - the Cactus Forest Trail. It is really beautiful as you can see. It was hot, though! I have my new Nathan hydration pack 'Intensity' - it is made for a woman. I love it and hardly even notice I am wearing it. It is a mesh vest that has pockets for everything I need. I was also wearing my new hot pink skirt. Some people on horseback saw me and called me the 'hot pink lady'. If you haven't guessed, pink is my favorite color!

Oh, take a closer look at my new trail gaiters. I got them at www.dirtygirlgaiters.com
They come in all sorts of crazy designs. Not only do they keep pebbles and dirt out of your shoes, but they are fashionable, too! They are the Victoria's Secret 'sexy' fabric pattern.

This is from my first marathon, the Bataan Memorial Death March Marathon in White Sands, NM on March 25th. It was beautiful - I finished all 26.2 miles in 4:54. My goal was to finish and have a great time, which I did! I will be doing it again next year. I trained by running trails which included some elevation gain. This race climbs about 1400 feet in elevation from miles 5 to 10 and also has a sand pit about a mile long around mile 20. Check it out and join me next year:

I'm proud of myself!

For all of the girls who were picked last in gym class, this 26.2 was for you!

This is my first blog post!

What a great day it was today! I went for a 5 mile run this morning before work.
I miss my husband Ken - he left for Taos today and then he will head on to Silverton, CO. Hopefully, he'll return in about a week. I love you Kenny!
