The No Running Post

That's right. No running this week at all. ZERO miles. I have not run since my 17 mile long run last Saturday. I'm in withdrawals. I'm in self pity. I've been sick with this cold that unfortunately, has moved into my lungs. I have asthma, so it has affected me enough that I have been unable to run.

This was to be the last of 2 weeks of marathon training, then I'll taper for 3 weeks before the race. So, since I've lost a week, my hopes are to get back running this week and run one more long run in the 22 mile range next weekend.

I decided to make the best of it. Since my training has been taking a lot of my free time, I have been playing catch up in life by doing a whole bunch of overdue errands and getting a few things done around the house. I got over the initial cold within 3-4 days; my energy level was high enough to be able to do a variety of things, except run. I feel a little more caught up and able to focus on the rest of my training.
So, no pictures of me running and enjoying the Tucson desert. My soul misses it greatly.
I've been enjoying my dogs Dixie, Cracker and Yentyl. Hope you do, too.

I did celebrate a wonderful milestone in my life yesterday, however. 18 years ago, I was freed of my dependence on alcohol and given a new life. Thank you God!

I'm feeling better and hope to be running either tomorrow or Tuesday. Stay tuned.

Congrats on 18 years of freedom. That is a definate milestone to cherrish. I would have to agree on rest when the cold goes below the neck. I can usually handle a head cold, but when it gets into the lungs, it is a lost cause. Glad you were able to get your honey do list done, and spend some quality time with the family.
